Terms of service

Last updated · July 2, 2026

By using Cinemate you agree to these terms. We've kept them as short as we reasonably can. If anything's unclear, ask — that's faster than the lawyers.

Your account

You need to be at least 13 to use Cinemate. You're responsible for what happens on your account, so keep your sign-in credentials safe. Tell us if you suspect unauthorized access.

Acceptable use

Don't do anything illegal. Don't harass other users. Don't post spam or hateful, abusive, or sexually explicit content. Don't try to break the service or scrape it at scale.

There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour on Cinemate. You can report any profile, review, log note, or collection from inside the product, and block users you don't want to hear from — blocking severs the follow relationship both ways. We review reports and may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these terms.

Your content

Reviews, lists, and notes you write are yours. By posting them on Cinemate, you grant us a non-exclusive license to display and store them so the product works. You can delete content (or your whole account) at any time.

Our content

The Cinemate name, mark, and software are ours. Review or article content posted by other users belongs to those users — don't republish without permission.

Third-party services

Cinemate is built on top of two data providers, and our use of their data flows through to you when you use Cinemate.

Full attribution lives on /about.

Service availability

We aim to keep Cinemate online and fast, but we don't guarantee uptime. We may change features, retire surfaces, or perform maintenance. We'll communicate material changes ahead of time when we can.

Termination

You can close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or pose a risk to the service or other users.

Disclaimer & contact

Cinemate is provided "as is," without warranties. To the extent permitted by law, we're not liable for indirect or consequential damages.
