A reel for the movies you watch
What Cinemate is, and what it isn't
Cinemate is a movie tracker and discovery app. You log movies into your reel, keep a watchlist, write reviews, and follow people whose taste you trust — on the web and on iOS.
A reaction, not a rating
There are no stars on Cinemate. Every movie you log gets one of three reactions: loved, liked, or didn't. It's a deliberately blunt scale — closer to how you actually talk about a movie with a friend than a five-point grid pretending to be precise.
Reviews are where the nuance goes. If a film deserves more than a reaction, write one.
Your reel
Your reel is the running record of everything you've logged — a magazine-style view of recent watches, or a full chronological log, windowed by the last 7, 30, 90 days or the year so far. Rewatches, dates, and the notes you left all live here.
Stats, by the numbers
Stats turn your reel into a portrait. Top directors and genres, decades you gravitate to, the shape of your reactions, a heatmap of when you actually sit down to watch. A year-in-review section sits at the top once you have enough logged.
It's reflective, not competitive — your stats are private by default and surface patterns you might not have noticed.
Watchlist and collections
Save anything you want to get to with the watchlist. Group films into collections — a director run, a year-end ten, a "watched this on a plane" list — and share them at a clean URL.
In your orbit
Follow critics, friends, and strangers with good taste. Their loves, watches, reviews, and watchlist adds land in your orbit — a quiet feed of the people you actually care to hear from, not a firehose.
Every profile lives at a clean handle, like cinemate.film/@you.
The booth
The booth is your personal drawer — borrowed from the projection booth, the ticket booth, the photo booth. One tap from any page and it slides in with your week at a glance (films watched, films loved, current day streak), your last logged film, and quick links to your profile, stats, and watchlist. Theme switcher and sign-out live there too.
Built by one person
Cinemate is designed, built, and maintained by simon@cinemate.film. Bug reports, taste recommendations, and "why doesn't it do X" emails are all welcome.
Credits · TMDB and JustWatch
Titles, posters, cast, crew, release years, runtimes, languages, and just about every piece of structured film data on Cinemate comes from The Movie Database (TMDB). "Where to watch" data — streaming, rent, and buy availability per region — is provided by JustWatch via TMDB.
This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
